Nature Reserve
Guests have exclusive access to the private nature reserve which has been created in three low-lying fields below the house. Paths are cut in the summer to guide guests and there are nice places to stop with benches.
There is a tree-planting programme which includes a wet woodland and copses of alder, willow, beech, dogwood and silver birch. Wildlife habitats are being created including the small lake which can be seen from the house which is now home to mallards and moorhens with the occasional kingfisher and heron. The birdlife here is wonderful including resident buzzards, nuthatches, woodpeckers, wrens, chiff chaffs, great tits and more, and a Peregrine falcon was spotted recently.
